When a shooting happens, the police will try to talk to witnesses in the area and conduct their own investigation in an effort to figure out what happened and to find a suspect. But when there are multiple assailants that go to great lengths to conceal their identity, the identification of these suspects can be a daunting and fruitless task.
Officials recently identified a man who was fatally injured in a shooting near the Orange Fire Headquarters. The 27-year-old victim of the shooting was shot at 10:00am near Lincoln Avenue according to information released by Essex County Prosecutors Office.
Approximately 30 minutes later, he was pronounced dead at the scene. According to witnesses, an unknown number of assailants showed up in a car on Central Avenue and fired at the victim on the sidewalk. Those assailants were all wearing ski masks and have not yet been identified.
While police were investigated the shooting, area schools were put on lockdown but no arrests were made. Officials did not provide information about a possible motive. This was the second murder of the year for Orange.
