Police in Willingboro Township are searching for two suspects in a home invasion that turned violent and resulted in one of the residents being shot.
The break-in occurred after 3:00 a.m. at a residence located on Melville Lane in Willingboro, New Jersey. The two male suspects reportedly knocked on the door and then forced their way inside the house. Once inside the residence, the suspects allegedly tied up one of the occupants and used a firearm to shoot a second occupant.
While all of this was going on, a third occupant of the residence managed to get out of the house without being detected. He then used his cell phone to dial 911 and alert local law enforcement. Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, but the suspects were already long gone by the time cops arrived. It is unclear if the suspects got away with any stolen possessions or money.
One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to his leg as a result of the shooting. He was briefly treated by emergency medical responders at the scene of the robbery before being transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden NJ, where doctors provided further medical treatment.
Detectives with the Willingboro Township Police Department are actively investigating the violent incident and attempting to determine the identities of the suspects. At this time, investigators have not yet been able to identify the culprits. Any members of the public with information about the suspects or the Willingboro home invasion robbery should immediately contact law enforcement.
