Moorestown School Bus Driver Accused of Possessing Child Porn in Gloucester Township, NJ

A Moorestown school bus driver was recently arrested after police allegedly discovered him in possession of child pornography at his home in Gloucester Township, NJ.

The suspect is a 55-year-old Gloucester Township man who is employed by the Moorestown School District as a bus driver. He reportedly works as a bus driver and transported children to and from Moorestown Friends School, a private day school located in Burlington County, New Jersey.

The Gloucester Township Police Department received a report that the suspect was downloading child pornography from the Internet and possibly uploading illicit sexual images to the Internet as well. Gloucester Township police notified the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, which immediately launched an investigation into the suspect.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit eventually obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence, which is located on Austin Avenue in the Glendora area of Gloucester Township, NJ. When detectives executed the search warrant, they seized the suspect’s personal computer and other electronic devices. Detectives also conducted what has been described as “an onsite forensic preview of the digital media devices located in the home” and allegedly “confirmed the presence of child pornography.”

The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest without incident. He has been charged with possession of child pornography, a third degree felony that could potentially lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison. Beyond that, a sex crime conviction in NJ typically results in the convicted sex offender being required to register as such under Megan’s Law.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was released from police custody on his own recognizance. He will have to appear in Camden County Superior Court at a later date in order to address the very serious criminal charges against him. In the meantime, the suspect’s job with the Moorestown School District could be in jeopardy because authorities notified his employer of the arrest and related criminal charges.
